Aditya Chopra, wanted to make the film in 3D. After observing the success of Haunted 3D, India's first film in the new 3D technology, the Yash Raj Studios felt that Indian audiences have opened up to 3D cinema viewing. However, actor Aamir Khan opined that the 3D technology needed expertise and perhaps he was unsure of the outcome of its utilization by the director. In November 2013, Aditya Chopra sent out a message to movie exhibitors all over the country to Go digital or miss Dhoom 3. Release of movies through digital and UFO digital cinema prevents piracy as the prints are water-marked and finger-printed and can be traced back. It is believed that usually films are copied for piracy when the reels are being transported to theatres in the country and abroad.Digital cinema curbs piracy as the "en route" content leakage is eliminated. It also makes sense economically as a producer saves a lot of print cost. Apart from that, encrypting the content protects the copyrights of the producers and distributors. Digital prints prevent duplication of prints and helps by diverting funds back to the cinemas.
Dhoom3 Reviews
Review By: DecanChronic
The dominant sound in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s “Dhoom 3” is the revving up of a bike. The bike never quite takes off though, resulting in a lot of noise and smoke, but not much else. Hyped as the biggest release of the year, and as the slickest action thriller to come out of India, “Dhoom 3” turns out to be a damp squib. For an action film, there is hardly any action – instead the 172 minute film is laden with an insipid romance and many other distractions that add nothing to the story except lengthen it further. More.

Chases and stunts in DHOOM-3 are pulsating and most significantly, trendily implemented. The razor-sharp editing, awe-inspiring cinematography and well designed CGI also merit an enthusiastic round of applause. On the whole, DHOOM-3 is one solid entertainer loaded with attitude and star power that will leave fans of the series salivating for more. It is miles ahead of its predecessors in the DHOOM series. This will shatter previous records and set new ones. SURE-SHOT BLOCKBUSTER. More

Dhoom 3 is slightly extensive. But it holds advantages, the first, that sizzling Dhoom tune, all leather, boots and electric guitars, which straightens sagging scenes. The second - sharp performances by Khan, Bachchan and Chopra, who sprinkles lightness and fun. And the third - Dhoom 3's story with a twist wrapped around it, like the ribbon around a Christmas gift. Merrily unwrap - flying out of the Great Indian Circus, Dhoom 3 is great fun. More

There was Aamir Khan running down the side of a building for no apparent reason. Everything -- repeat, everything -- looked too goofy to be either thrilling or realistic or compelling or even plain fun. Dhoom 3 is a children’s film made for children who’ve never seen a film. How else can you explain this famine of originality? How else can you possibly justify the lack of a single interesting scene right up to the intermission? And how, after that, can you account for Aamir Khan’s blatant exploitation of yet another Christopher Nolan masterpiece More

Realistically, of course, Dhoom is a fun albeit dumb franchise that is unapologetically nonsensical, intellect proof and relies on the shenanigans of its smooth, superficial villains and their hot pursuit at the hands of police officers. There are two vivid reasons I indulge (and enjoyed) this I know-that you know-that I know (classic Abbas-Mastanism) is because of the cunning and conviction in Aamir’s delivery and Katrina Kaif More

Dhoom 3’ manages to deliver a typically Bollywood revenge saga in a modern way. The suspense and the emotional quotient added to the speed and stunts make the movie as spectacular as it promises to be. Acharya brings to the audience an enthralling script and executes it equally well. The movie is sure to keep you hooked; go and watch it for Aamir! More

This time around, the bikes, babes and brawls formula is dished out even more liberally than before. So, for the most part, Dhoom: 3 is a high-voltage action flick that relies squarely on known methods of the genre. Dhoom: 3 is fun while it lasts, but it might not leave the viewer with the sense of having watched a film that is truly unique. But watch it all the same for Aamir Khan and the hi-jinks. More

'Dhoom 3' is a victim of both a lack of imagination, and franchise fatigue.' Dhoom 3' is too long and too laboured. The film comes alive in those scenes where good old Bollywood emotion—tears-welling-up-eyes between father and son, and 'ladka'-and-'ladki'—is allowed to come to the fore. Those earlier two films had the right doses of cheese and speed, and that's why they worked. 'Dhoom 3' is more bust than boom. More

Dhoom 3 is full of loop holes, over-the-top acting and an overdose of action that doesn't fit well all the time. The timing is right so the film will run to packed houses but it's surely not a film that I would recommend as your last outing for 2013! More

The best thing about Dhoom:3? The fact that it ends. I'd completely believe you if you feared it won't. To watch Dhoom:3, you have to get rid of the expectations that are raised in most average human beings suffering from an illness called common sense. Once that is out of the way, Dhoom:3 is rather easy to appetise. It's also easy to believe that Uday Chopra has great degrees of self respect, yet he agrees to appear in Dhoom films. More

Dhoom 3 is a definite must watch. Breathtakingly shot with gorgeous cinematography, this edition notches higher than its preceding films in terms of thrills and mostly in terms of soul. You wouldn’t want to miss a defining moment in commercial films of Bollywood. There is all the action and gadgets, seamlessly beaded together but with a story that crackles! More
